As a fellow, you will participate in two international training trips, one in United States and the other in Mainland China. All trips are fully subsidized by ECSEL and require a commitment of 10-15 days of the year.

The US training trip is typically held in mid-April. Past years training included programming run in coordination with General Assembly, Design School at Stanford University, Yale University, the Hauser Center at Harvard University, The Hub-Bay Area, Village Capital, and the Monterrey Institute. During the trip, ECSEL will also work to connect you with top companies, investors, and educators based in the United States. See our training content in 2012

As part of the yearlong program, you will also be provided with access to exclusive online content, webinars and other materials to help you develop and grow your business.

ECSEL believes that resources such as mentorship are critical to whether a social enterprise can succeed. As a fellow, you will be paired with an ECSEL mentor to guide you as you build and grow your business. Our mentors include a group of highly experienced China-based social entrepreneurs in a variety of fields. Your mentor will be dedicated to fostering your success and provide you with the support and guidance you need to grow as a social entrepreneur.

Other mentoring resources offered include our 'Domain Gurus', or a group of experts in specific areas such as marketing, management, legal, etc. These gurus will provide you advice in their area of expertise and act as another valuable resource to you during your fellowship.

Investment and Networking Opportunities

As an incubation program, ECSEL is committed to providing you with investment and networking opportunities throughout your fellowship year. Such opportunities include but are not limited to invitations to networking events and meetings with impact investors. At the same time, ECSEL fellows are also responsible for creating their own investment opportunities and ECSEL does not guarantee outside investment.

After graduating from ECSEL, you will enter our alumni community and continue to receive investment and networking opportunities. The ECSEL alumni council, elected by your fellowship class, will organize reunions and other alumni events. ECSEL will also continue to hold events with current and past fellows to keep you connected with the ECSEL community.
